The #nestlefamily story – think before you tweet.

  • MomSpark @thinkmaya Thank you, sweetie. We’re having a productive event with #nestlefamily, despite the hashtag overrun. g
  • AmyMomSpark RT @thinkmaya: @momspark I think you ladies are doing a great job at #nestlefamily Both sides will be grateful you educated the company.
  • ToniTotally_Toni @thinkmaya We told them that they needed to open a forum and open twitter so be on the watch
  • Such a classy social media business case!!

    Such an incredibly great one.

    I love it.

Now, let us talk about it.

AFAIK, a number of ladies are at Nestle for an event and start tweeting about it wit the hashtag #nestlefamily.

Very soon, there is hashtag overrun on twitter – and Nestle hate tweets all over twitter.

WHAT is going on??? Someone tell me please?

What are people trying to accomplish here?
    Awareness? Bitching? or Conversation?

The true value of Social Media tools is in Conversation. The ladies at #nestlefamily established that Nestle does not have a social media team yet – and the women out there are clearly educating them on that.
It is a pity that the company is so behind on having conversations, but I wonder what the point of all the bitchy tweets are?

Here in lies the problem –

    1. Bitch all you like, there is no one listening on the other end.
    2. Bitch more and you are just fighting with fellow tweeps and ladies who have NOTHING whatsoever to do with Nestle.

Gah. I am already sick of all the noise surrounding Mommy Bloggers crap. Just another opportunity for people to talk about the mommy bloggers all over again. A true true pity.

Social Media tools are easy to use. That has never meant you use them without forethought. Please, think before you tweet.

And if what you are doing is not conversation or education, more often than not, it is useless. Keep all the namedropping and spewing where they should be …..
