Hi Maya - Reading how you've done your homework makes me believe your startup will be a huge success. It is all about baby steps, but soon I know you'll be running. I wish you all of life's best.

Hi Jenny,So true. Infact, I think people are starting to see Frugal as the new Sexy :)Hi Ari,How is everything going on your end? It is great to hear that you have not seen any resistance so far. I am taking things slow - using strategies and creative techniques that I might not have used otherwise ...using twitter a lot, learning from other people, using freelancers and such. It is good that interest rates are low - people and businesses that survive will only do better when things start to get better :). All the best to you!

Hi Maya,It's hard to say until I get reactions from real people making decisions at banks, but so far my efforts to go ahead with my start-up haven't met any major resistance. Yeah, people talk about how the credit market has tightened -- but there are people who are thriving and they know that it can be done. The upside to the current economy is that interest rates are low if you do qualify for loans and financing. ari

Great post on the pros/cons of launching in a recession. I started my own business right at the beginning of the recession and struggled with the desire to "look big" with office space and employees. I thought "bigger" was better in my clients' eyes. I was wrong - being small is a huge competitive advantage...one I'm not letting go of any time soon! Thanks for reminding us the "doom & gloom" in the news doesn't have to pertain to us!!!
