A LOT has happened in the past few weeks. I am LOVING my life and all the learning opportunities it has been bringing.
Some big things for me -
I have joined the SMCSeattle team to manage Education! I am super excited about this for multiple reasons – SMCSeattle has some insanely intelligent and passionate people as a part of the team. Secondly, with education/learning being my life long passion, this is an incredibly great opportunity to learn, teach and bring people together around the common goal of knowledge-exchange. I am super excited about the wonderful resource of information we will build as a result of this. We had a great meeting yesterday – full of energy and ideas and I really look forward to making SMCSeattle an place of learning as much as for connecting.With super passionate and able people like Kevin Urie, Shih_Wei, Shauna Causey and Eric(aka Geekgaint) and several others, I know I am in for a great experience!
I also got on the Advisory Board for the Multimedia Program at Everett Community College. My endless love for school has once again taken me back there, but this time I get to advise and share my perspective on the classes, what should be added and so on. I am looking forward to sharing my first Social Media 101 learning with them in the near future.
I am also exploring Mom-It-Forward (where “mom” is a verb), a non-profit that focuses on empowering women using Social Media and local events/groups. MomItForward is “fun with a purpose” – and that is exactly what drew me to them. They are about empowerment, education and support. I got to know JyL and Carissa through #gno and they always impressed me with how well they always had a great purpose tie in with #gno every Tuesday. I am looking forward to helping them set up a Seattle chapter!
With all of this, my work on Memetales is moving forward steadily – the collaboration, the website and all. I am getting nervous but incredibly excited about what lies ahead both for me and for Memetales in the months to come.
